Lifelong Friendship

Lifelong Friendship

1985 Aimee and Greg begin their lifelong friendship at The Cullowhee Experience Summer Camp at Western Carolina University.

EuroLux Imports, Inc. is born

EuroLux Imports, Inc. is born

1999 The concept for EuroLux Imports, Inc. is born in Aimee’s entrepreneurship class as part of the #1 ranking Masters of International Business (MIBS) program at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

Life in Germany

Life in Germany

2001 Having both graduated from MIBS with a concentration in German language, Greg & Aimee set off to Germany after getting married. Greg worked as Controller and IT Director for Terex Corporation’s German affiliate, O&K Mining GmbH. Aimee takes a job as Marketing Manager at Corus Steel.

European street markets

European street markets

2001-2004 Aimee & Greg visit antique markets and dealers throughout Germany, Belgium and France making contacts for what would become EuroLuxHome.com and learning as much as possible about European antiques.

Aimee & Greg open EuroLux Antiques

Aimee & Greg open EuroLux Antiques

2004 Doing business as EuroLux Antiques, the first container from France in July 2004 is imported. Aimee and Greg attempt to set everything up in their rented space known as “The Rainbow Shops” on US Hwy 76 in Newberry, SC, but they have no idea how to assemble all of the pieces of furniture and armoires. After many late nights collating and learning how to assemble the furniture, we can assemble anything now!

Antique Road Show

Antique Road Show

2004-2006 EuroLux Antiques sets up shop at the Metrolina Antique Show in Charlotte, NC, and Scott Antique Market in Atlanta on a monthly basis, learning how to pack a 28-ft trailer like nobody’s business. To borrow a phrase from Greg’s favorite show “Breaking Bad,” Greg says he has “mad packing skills, yo!”

EuroLuxAntiques.com

EuroLuxAntiques.com

2005 EuroLuxAntiques.com is launched. This led Aimee & Greg to believe that selling furniture online was the wave of the future, so they quit going to antique markets and hunkered down to get organized. One antique dealer in Camden, SC, actually told them that they’d never sell the first piece of furniture online. Aimee & Greg were later asked by that very same dealer to consult with the City of Camden about selling online!

First sale on eBay

First sale on eBay

2006 Our first sale on eBay was an antique Boulle table to an oil baron in Jordan. If you’re going to sell online, you may as well start with an international order! EuroLux Antiques moves to 1409 Main Street in Historic Downtown Newberry.

EuroLux’ Secret Sauce

EuroLux’ Secret Sauce

2007 - 2008 Greg applies his IT and database skills to develop a rudimentary software system based in Microsoft Access to start managing product data and posting items on various websites, including 1stdibs, Ruby Lane, GoAntiques, Amazon, eBay and several others.

SC Rural Business of the Year

2008 EuroLux Antiques wins the SC Rural Business of the Year award from the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
The award is based on business growth and impact in the community. Aimee served as President of the Newberry Downtown Development Association from 2006 to 2008. She served a second term as NDDA President from 2018 to 2020 and was responsible for the 70s and 80s music and craft beer street festival called Groove ‘n Brew held in Downtown Newberry in 2018 and 2019.

Antiques and Information Technology

2009 After the original software version in Access repeatedly crashed due to overloading, Greg goes to school and learns more programming and SQL Server to help take EuroLuxAntiques.com to the next level.

Dedicated Customer Service

Dedicated Customer Service

2010 EuroLux Antiques starts selling new home décor items from Dale Tiffany, their first non-antique line and also supplies all the antique furniture to Vine and Roses Bed and Breakfast in Walla Walla, Washington. Their dedication to customer service sees them personally fly to Walla Walla to make sure everything arrives and is set up in the B&B properly.

New Furniture, New Name: EuroLuxHome.com

New Furniture, New Name: EuroLuxHome.com

2011 The business name and website changes to EuroLuxHome.com with sales of both European antiques and new furniture and home goods. Aimee and Greg visit the High Point Furniture Market to hand-select high-quality furniture and home décor with the mantra that they will only sell what they would be willing to put in their own home.

Pilgrim-palooza!

Pilgrim-palooza!

2015 Greg’s mother, Kathy Talbot, begins the annual tradition of filling the EuroLux Home Gallery windows with her life-long collection of pilgrims for Newberry’s Oktoberfest. The collection now numbers more than 1000 figurines and many Newberrians include visiting the collection as part of their family holiday traditions.

2018 EuroLux Home begins to manufacture their own high-quality line of furniture based on traditional antique-inspired designs.

Ozzy (Mr. Kittles) Talbot

Named after Ozzy Osbourne and affectionately known as Mr. Kittles, this cool cat is a true rock star.

He is large and in charge of the cat colony, but he prefers to sit on Samantha’s lap all day. Even though he's clearly the boss, he is prone to sleeping on the job and snoozes about 18 hours per day.

Minkey Talbot

He's so beautiful, and he knows it too. This handsome Sealpoint Siamese cat is quite vocal, although he pretty much just says, "Meh".

He greatly enjoys interacting with our guests at EuroLux Home and considers himself quite the host. No matter which piece of antique furniture you're considering, he'll get in it and show you the best place to sit.

Lenny & Squiggy Talbot

Talk about a great personality! These twin kittens have it in spades.

Lenny Bean (left) is so full of mischief that he's been known to swing in the chandeliers, but he's just so adorable that we can't stay mad. Squiggy (right) likes to give kisses, will charm you with his one blue eye, and has the loudest purr south of the Mississippi.

Fozzy Talbot

Apparently, the stray cats in Newberry are marking the sidewalk out in front of our Gallery - "kind hearted woman will feed you here".

This little guy actually scratched at the front door begging to get in. How could we resist? Fozzy is extremely shy and tends to stay up high in the chair racks away from most humans, but he greatly enjoys the company of his buddies, Minkey and Mr. Kittles.

Ernie Talbot

“I don’t think we should get any more big dogs,” Aimee said to Greg one morning out of the blue, and the Universe laughed.

The next morning a sick and injured puppy literally showed up on the doorstep. We nursed him back to health and fell in love before we found out he is part lab, part Great Dane! Ernie is a bit of a headcase due to his puppyhood traumas, but he is quite a sweet boy and enjoys laying in the sun with his buddy, Snoopie.

Izzy Talbot

Isabelle (Izzy) does not believe us when we tell her she was born in a hole under our house.

Not the least bit feral now, she owns the joint and keeps Lenny and Squiggy on their toes, even though she is a fraction of their size. Able to leap to the top of the kitchen cabinets in a single bound, she seems to defy gravity and has a mind of her own when it comes to staying off the kitchen counters.

Snoopie Talbot

After his first friends, Rudy and Jake, passed away, Ernie was pretty depressed. We went searching for a new friend at the local no-kill shelter, and ended up with Snoopie.

Part rat terrier, part pain in the derriere, Snoopie does not care at all about pleasing any human. Digging up the yard and chewing up the baseboards are his passions. If he makes it to adulthood, we’re hoping we’ll laugh about his antics one day. He is currently being a big jerk to the new guy, Bear.

Bear Talbot

Walking past the house down the street, Aimee suddenly wondered if she should go check to see if the dog she knew was chained up back there was still there.

Greg replied, “No, those people moved out three weeks ago.” Sadly, Aimee found Bear nearly starved to death and left tied up to die. Despite the horrible treatment he experienced, Bear is a wonderful dog, and is incredibly grateful to have joined the family. He has a huge head and we’re guessing he is part chow, part lab, part shepherd – all sweetheart.

Aimee Talbot

Born in South Florida, Aimee is the resident Yankee, bless her heart. If you give us a call, more than likely Aimee will answer the phone.

She answers your questions, solves any difficulties that might arise, and oversees marketing. She also adores animals and just keeps bringing home strays - she's currently up to 9 fuzzy babies. Study abroad in Italy during her years at Florida State University had a profound impact on Aimee, leading to an MA in Italian Renaissance Art & History, and an insatiable urge to travel the world. Combine an MBA in International Business from the University of South Carolina into the mix, and she has an excellent set of skills to run an international import e-commerce business. Aimee met Greg at summer camp in North Carolina at the tender age of thirteen, and married him 16 years later. "Sometimes you just know, the way you know a good melon," is a movie quote from Aimee's favorite movie. (Name it for 5% off your next order!)

Greg Talbot

Greg is a computer geek from way back. Little did his parents know in 1984 when they bought a family computer, it would eventually lead to an e-commerce business.

Greg designs and manages the custom product database software that is the backbone of EuroLux Home. A long-suffering Gamecock fan, Greg has both Accounting and Law degrees from the University of South Carolina, as well as an MBA in International Business. Greg is quite handy and loves to work with power tools - he has restored several houses, including a 1920s bungalow, and is currently restoring a 1975 Corvette Stingray, a 1965 Mustang, and a 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

Kathy Talbot

As Director of Restoration Services, Kathy (Greg’s mom) stays very busy - from touching up furniture to rewiring chandeliers to ceramic restoration.

Since childhood, Kathy has loved to do crafts and work with her hands. She has even taught herself to cane chairs and to work on clocks. Kathy and John met while students at the University of South Carolina and married while serving together in the Navy. Kathy was a Navy nurse and worked in that profession for 35 years, specializing in gerontology. Kathy has a great interest in genealogy and loves to travel. She and John lived in London for four months and have travelled extensively throughout Europe and North America.

John Talbot

If you're visiting our Gallery, you're sure to meet John (Greg’s dad). John greets our guests and takes care of the accounting.

Chances are he may have travelled through your hometown as he grew up a military kid, and then moved from place to place during his own days as an aviator flying P3 Orions in the US Navy. A retired civil engineer and USNR Captain, John enjoys crossword puzzles and is an expert at Wheel of Fortune, in Kathy's opinion. He recently took up golf and is a huge World War II history buff. He's especially fond of Kathy's cooking - her fried chicken, potato salad, and French silk pie are his favorites.

Movie Set and TV Show Furniture Rentals

Wide range of furniture that you can rent to create impeccable movie and television sets.

The rise of streaming services and downloadable movies and television shows have really changed how viewers consume and interact with media.

p>Audiences today are more critical than ever, especially with the ability to pause content at any time and examine high-definition stills in great depth. With sharper images come sharper viewers; no detail is too small to go unnoticed these days.

Some might think of set design as just the backdrop or setting of a scene. But the right pieces take on a life of their own and can become just as important as the characters in the foreground. Of course, you don’t want your set design to stand out for the wrong reasons; the audience is much likelier to notice when your furniture just doesn’t look right. You’ll know that you’ve done a good job with the set design if it feels natural. The perfect furniture will draw in your viewers and help you tell a story.

This is where we come in.

EuroLux Home has a wide range of furniture that you can rent to create impeccable movie and television sets. We have everything from large pieces of furniture to wall hangings, vases, and other accessories. Let us be your partner in leaving a legacy of excellent, innovative set design.

We Support Homeless Pets!

A percentage of all sales is donated to the Saving Saluda Strays to support their efforts to prevent homeless pets.
