Client Spotlight: Dale Tiffany Lamps Fly to Mexico!

Dale Tiffany Lamp Simon Table LampJeri contacted me to see if I could ship a pair of beautiful crystal and chrome Dale Tiffany lamps to her home in Mexico. This is the Dale Tiffany lamp that Jeri chose for her living room. She explained that she and her husband had retired to Puerto Vallarta so I couldn’t help but ask some questions to find out more!

It turns out that that they fell in love with Puerto Vallarta after visiting on a vacation and then returning for dental work. She and her husband sold everything and flew down to Mexico with five suitcases and a Siamese cat. What a lucky cat!

Jeri jokingly said that all of their friends and family thought they were crazy doing something so unpredictable at the age of 72.

Dale Tiffany Lamps Simon Table LampsJeri is now refurnishing her condo and spent a year searching in Mexico for just the right lamps, but couldn’t find the what she wanted. I was thrilled to help decorate her retirement condo in Mexico. You can see the pair of new Dale Tiffany lamps (item number DY-550) on the two end tables by the sofa. They look very elegant and the crystal and chrome design of the lamps reflect the light and bright feel in the room. They are a wonderful match for the  tasteful neutral decor. The two Dale Tiffany lamps also create a frame around the focal point of that terrific piece of art over the sofa.

Of course, I asked to see the view out of the window that the lamps will now enjoy – and what a view it is! Jeri lives on the marina and enjoys a view of big beautiful yachts.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your home, Jeri. We don’t think you are crazy at all and we wish you many happy years in your Puerto Vallarta home, illuminated by your new Dale Tiffany lamps. Now I am dreaming of sailing away, or at least of visiting Jeri in Mexico!

Dale Tiffany Lamps: The Creative Process

EuroLuxAntiques.com has carried Dale Tiffany lamps, chandeliers, and other light fixtures since summer 2012. These stunning hand-made glass lights often replicate the original stained glass designs of Louis Comfort Tiffany lamps. The creative process behind Dale Tiffany lamps is a wonder to behold so I was delighted to see this video showing how the artisans hand-craft each piece. Eye candy alert! You’ll see some gorgeous lamps in this video.

All Dale Tiffany lamps are unique pieces. The craftsmanship starts by creating the art glass. True art glass is made by hand-blending a palette of molten glass tones to conjure up unique colors. Then the glass is hand-cut and each piece is individually edged with copper foil. This technique was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany more than a century ago for his famously ornate glass mosaics.

Finally, the artisans hand-assemble the pieces of glass into the mosaic design of the shade. The mosaic is soldered together and given a superbly authentic antique finish. Metal filigree might be added to accent details such as dragonfly wings. Hundreds of pieces of glass are used in the designs, and some shades feature more than 1,000 individual glass segments.

You can see the full selection of Dale Tiffany lighting in our online gallery or click on any of the pictures for more details. In addition to reproductions of original antique Tiffany lamps, Dale Tiffany has created some designs inspired by Tiffany style and traditional techniques, but reflecting contemporary tastes in home decor.  Dale Tiffany fruit chandelier from EuroLuxAntiques.com

Greg and I are very selective about the reproduction product lines we offer to our customers. The high quality and skilled craftsmanship of Dale Tiffany lamps and chandeliers meet our exacting standards! We know our clients want the benefit of beautiful heirloom-quality lighting at a much lower price than the original antiques.

Louis C. Tiffany broke new ground in designing with glass, but his designs were limited to the wealthy.  Not any longer! It’s wonderful to see the tradition of Tiffany lamps continue as Dale Tiffany creates the antiques of tomorrow.

Light Your Home Beautifully: 3 Tips

Lighting can have a bigger impact on a room’s mood than even color or furniture. Those latter two attributes may give you a quick impression of a room’s decor — Victorian, mid-century modern, shabby cottage — but lighting can transform any design scheme from cool to warm literally with the flick of a switch.

Here are three tricks for creating mood with your home lighting.

When you choose a light fixture for your home, think not only about where you plan to locate it or the style of your decor but also about how the fixture will affect the way the light is displayed within the setting. For example, a large crystal chandelier makes a certain statement in its opulence, but it also tends to scatter bright light, which results in dazzling patterns dancing on the ceiling and walls. You can control the level of this effect by hooking your antique or vintage crystal chandelier up to a dimmer switch.

Stained glass wall sconces can create extraordinarily warm accent lighting, depending on the color of the glass. Enclosed sconces that mount flush against the wall tend to push light back against the wall, allowing only a small amount through the glass. This creates a cozy glow and sense of intimacy. Glitzy reproduction candle sconces, on the other hand, can cast a lot of light into a small area. These fixtures can help brighten large spaces.

Pendant fixtures come in an array of styles, and some of them act like sconces in that they push light toward the ceiling as well as directing light downward through the glass shade. These lights make great fixtures for entryways because they provide enough light to illuminate the darkness but also cast warm shadows onto the ceiling for a welcoming touch.

Of course, you always want to include a variety of light sources within your design scheme, including up lights that cast light up from the floor, floor and table lamps that illuminate their immediate surroundings, and chandeliers or flush-mount ceiling fixtures that cast light downward. By integrating each type of lighting into your design, you’ll be able to set any mood you desire.
