EuroLux Home on Pinterest

Antiques in the homeGreg and I have had a Pinterest account for EuroLuxHome.com for a long time, but recently we have been pinning a lot more. We’ve been pintastic!   If you want to pin any of the photos in this blog post. just click on the photo to be taken directly to the original Pinterest photo.

We’ve added a lot of new Pinterest home decor and stylish living boards covering all kinds of areas including Antique and Vintage for the Home, to showcase some of the best antiques from our store but also ways to live with antique furniture.

For example, this fabulous image of stylish heiress Ann Getty’s home in San Francisco. This emerald green room is packed with antique furniture and treasures, as featured in HarpersBazaar.com

Scarborough House Hall TreeWe also highlight some of our favorite new furniture, for example, this superb new Scarborough House Hall Tree or Coat Rack available in our online store, crafted in fine myrtle burl with lovely decorative carving, handsome brass accents and a large mirror.

Some of our boards are dedicated to specific spaces in the home. We have boards on beautiful bedrooms, stunning bathrooms, impressive and inviting hallways and entryways, vintage kitchens, home bars, and traditional offices.

We also have boards full of fabulous images of specific styles of antique furniture and the most popular home decor styles.

Country Farmhouse furniture and decorFor example, Rococo furniture and decor, antique French Brittany furniture, antique French Hunting style, Louis XV furniture and decor, VIctorian Style, Art Deco, and Mid-Century Modern.

Whatever your taste, you will find a style board to follow! This is an image from the Country Farmhouse Furniture board, which makes us all want to sit down at that charming table and share a glass of French wine!

We hope that if you are Pinterest you will not only follow us but leave a message on one of our images to tell us you are a customer or blog reader…. then we can make sure we follow you back!

Yellow RoomOther boards include design ideas that we love, and simply delicious food, drink and recipes. Some boards are dedicated to color schemes, for example red rooms and interiors, blue decor, and yellow rooms.

This buttery yellow formal living room works really well with the darker antique and paintings and the screen in the corner, and the paint color is Benjamin Moore HC-4 Hawthorne, if you would like to know!

We are keen gardeners, so we also have a board on beautiful gardens. This board shows some of our garden photos but mainly it is of gorgeous gardens around the world, and also great ideas for landscaping and making the garden even lovelier! This wheelbarrow planter makes me look forward to summer!

WHeelbarrow planterOf course we have a travel board too, which especially focuses on Europe because we travel so much in Europe to buy antiques to ship back to the USA!

FranceAnd yes, you know we have to have a “we love pets!” board, to show off our own furry brood of cats and dogs but also to share other pinners’ photos of cute pets. Here’s our Lenny, helping out with the laundry!Lenny CatWe hope you will follow EuroLuxHome.com on Pinterest – we look forward to seeing you there and pinning up a storm!

Houzz Home Decor Honors for EuroLux Home

Houzz Award badgeWe only started selling on Houzz.com last summer but already we’ve been blown away by the great interior design community there and the great home decor advice. We were especially pleased to receive a congratulations email from Houzz saying that EuroLux Home had been awarded more honors!

Houzz Recommended BadgeIn January I posted that EuroLux Home won a Best of Houzz 2015 award for our customer satisfaction and service. That was terrific, but now we’ve got more good news to celebrate as we’ve received two new badges. We received the Recommended badge which is given to the top-rated pros on Houzz.

Houzz Influencer Badge We also received The Influencer badge, given to pros on Houzz whose “advice and knowledgeable posts are most appreciated by the Houzz community.” I love that title… “The Influencer.” It sounds like a movie starring Clint Eastwood!Clint Eastwood

I don’t know if  Clint is very big on home decor, but I’m sure that Greg will be happy to stand in for him as The Influencer. He’ll be thrilled to play THAT role!

Joking aside, we are very grateful that the Houzz community enjoys what we do. Our new and antique furniture and home decor accents have also been featured in many Houzz editorials.

Just out of interest, I checked on our last few sales in our EuroLux Home Houzz shop. Our Houzz customers are a very diverse group of people with a wide range of tastes.

Bench by EuroLuxHome
Recent customers have bought sets of antique dining chairs, a beautiful cast resin pointer dog sculpture, some exquisite hand-crafted Aubusson throw pillows, and this handsome new French Country style bench boasting a hand-woven rattan seat.

Our lighting collections are also very popular with Houzz style-seekers including lighting by Jonathan Charles, Dale Tiffany, and Currey and Company.

We hope that you’ll come and follow EuroLux Home on Houzz if you have an account. (It’s free, of course.) Check out our customer projects too.

Meanwhile, we’ll carry on chatting with our home decor friends on Houzz and we’ll enjoy our new role as The Influencer!

EuroLux Home Wins Best of Houzz 2015 Award

Houzz Award badgeGreg and I were thrilled to hear that EuroLux Home is a winner in the Best of Houzz 2015 awards. We even get a special button to put on our website. How fancy is that? EuroLux Home was awarded “Best Of Houzz” for Customer Satisfaction. We pride ourselves on our customer service so that makes us very happy, especially as we were only invited to join the Houzz.com marketplace last summer – this is our EuroLuxHome page on Houzz

We received a press release from Houzz to distribute. I won’t take up my whole blog post by copying it all here, but this is the part about us.

“Houzz provides homeowners with a 360 degree view of home building, remodeling and design industry professionals, empowering them to engage the right people and products for their project,” said Liza Hausman, vice president of industry marketing for Houzz. “We’re delighted to recognize EuroLux Home among our “Best Of” professionals as judged by our community of homeowners and design enthusiasts who are actively remodeling and decorating their homes.”

Best seller Glass Cocktail TableOut of curiosity, I looked at our recent best-selling furniture and home accents on Houzz. This gorgeous new Woodbridge cocktail or coffee table has been especially popular, both in this gold leaf finish and the alternative silver tone finish. The square beveled glass cocktail table is crafted with a sturdy forged steel frame and a stunning antiqued gold leaf finish. Our previous client spotlight shows how chic the Woodbridge table looks in our customer Mary G’s Californian living room.

We’ve also featured in several editorials on Houzz recently. I already mentioned the Games People Play article about family games.

Coral pink painted cabinet

The other ones include the Houzz piece on Decorating Your Home With Coral Reef, the 2015 Sherman-Williams paint Color of the Year. Houzz mentioned this handsome new cottage style hardwood coral pink painted cabinet that we sell. Funnily enough, I also wrote a blog post last week about the various 2015 Paint Colors of the Year and I suggested in that another coral pink painted wall cabinet by the same furniture maker. It would make a nice partner to this one!

The Houzz ideabook on Sofas for Every Style also included a couple of sofas from EuroLux Home. They have excellent taste, the Houzz writers, don’t they? :-)
They featured this French Country settee, newly crafted with Old World appeal.
French Country SetteeThey also selected our luxurious new top grain leather sofa, hand-crafted in the USA with a solid wood frame.

Thanks to all the Houzz editorial writers and the Houzz users and customers who have supported us with great reviews!

Eclectic Decor: Freedom from Matchy-Matchy Furniture!

Our customers enjoy eclectic decor and so do we. “I don’t want things that are matchy-matchy,” they say to me. They don’t want Rooms-To-Go!

Dining room eclectic decor I love chatting with people who have the confidence to just pick things they are drawn to.  I always say: “If you see something you like, get it!” Don’t worry about everything matching in a room. It will come together if you trust your taste. That takes courage and boldness, but I like things to look unique and I also like the juxtaposition of different styles, color tones, and wood styles.

Rick and Cheri’s dining room is a great example. We took a tour of their home in our Antique Carved Furniture Fusion Client Spotlight. Rick and Cheri purchased several pieces from us over the years, including the 1900 French Renaissance buffet pictured here. But they also bought antique furniture in the French Hunting style, the Flemish Mechelen style, the American Eastlake style, and the French Brittany style! All the pieces are beautifully carved and they create a wonderful (and very individual) fusion.

Eclectic Decor

Many of our customers are interested in having chairs that don’t exactly match. This graceful eclectic decor dining area shows how interesting it is to have a mix of seating and upholstery fabrics. The two antique chairs don’t match, but they complement each other with their traditional French styling.  The sofa looks more modern but still classic, and the shaping of the back means that it blends nicely with the antiques. With the pretty mix of fabric prints and the fancy chandelier, this space looks charming!

Eclectic decor foyer

This entry foyer is another great example of eclectic decor. The space is so inviting I’d be tempted to stop here and go no further! This house is filled with antiques in different styles. Although the comfy old chair looks quite French in style, there are also nomadic African  influences in the carpet and the display of pottery.

Eclectic decor traditional bedroom

This bedroom is unusual. At first glance it has an antique French look to it, in the sofa, chair, and console table. The pale blue sofa upholstery coloring is also typical of antique French decor and the sculptures are very Old World classic. But look closer and you’ll notice that the two small tables before the sofa have a square geometric design that looks quite modern.  The rectangular table lamp, blingy chandelier, and the simple, almost Scandinavian four-poster bed are also not in keeping with the period and style of the other furniture. But doesn’t it all come together to set a lovely scene in this bedroom?

The last three photos in this post come from Houzz, and we’re delighted to say that we have been invited by Houzz to join their marketplace! You can find our furniture and home accents at EuroLuxHome on Houzz and check out our 5 Star reviews. Of course, you can still browse our full inventory at our own online gallery site: EuroLuxAntiques.com.

2. Elle Decor

020513_elle_decor_red_bedroomI love this venerable home decorating magazine and website because of its breadth. Sure, a lot of the designs covered in Elle Decor run on the high end, but anyone can take those designs and recreate them with a mixture of fine antiques and affordable (yet high-quality) reproduction pieces. Check out their current slideshow on Valentine’s Day Decor, including the red bedroom shown here.

3. Eddie Ross

020513_eddie_ross_designer_room_makeoverAn alumnus of Bravo’s “Top Design” program, interior designer Eddie Ross maintains a wonderful blog that covers great breadth in styles. Plus, Eddie’s site is chockablock with mouth-watering design photos. What’s not to love?

4. Apartment Therapy
