Client Spotlight: Vintage French Rococo Chairs

Our customer Fran P. found this beautiful set of vintage French Rococo dining chairs in our listings on Chairish, but she made the smart decision to track down our website EuroLuxHome.com and reach out to me directly for a best price! As Fran only lives about two hours from us in Concord, NC, she decided to drive down to our store in Newberry, SC, in order to pick up the chairs in person.

Vintage Rococo French Dining Chair Set

The set of 6 mahogany vintage French dining chairs dates to 1950 and the chairs are full of charming Rococo appeal. The sensuously curvy lines, the cabriole legs, and the carved curlicues on the mahogany wood frame are the perfect match for the chic pinky beige fabric upholstery. The sweet nailhead trim accents the glamorous silhouette, making these vintage Rococo French chairs a truly delicious treat as a dining room set.

Vintage French Rococo Dining Chairs

It was a real pleasure meeting Fran and her daughter, and you can see how truly wonderful the chairs look in Fran’s dining room. Fran said, “It was such a pleasure to visit, your items are beautiful, and we love our purchase!” We are pleased to have such a happy customer and we agree that this set of chairs is perfect for Fran’s dining room. The faded pink upholstery works very well with the pinks, mauves, and cranberry in her rug and she did a great job of finding such a good set of vintage chairs to blend in both color and style with her mahogany Rococo table. The gorgeous gilded Rococo mirror adds even more glam to room.

Vintage Capodimonte Chandelier ItalianFran says that she is now looking to replace the brass chandelier. I think this vintage Italian Capodimonte chandelier in our gallery would look fantastic. It  dates to 1950 and has an unusual cherub motif that is adorable. The angelic pastel pink and blue colors bring the scenes to life and the metal arms curve in a very elegant way. This relatively rare style of six-arm Italian chandelier doesn’t become available very often and so I wanted to share it with our blog readers because it is just so pretty!

New Italian Chandelier Gold CrystalsOr for even more glam, Fran could opt for this stunning new Italian Murano cut glass chandelier! The Rococo style 8-arm crystal chandelier is dramatically crafted with gold leaves and gorgeous clear glass pendants and clear glass flowers.

Fran has such good taste that I’m sure that any chandelier she chooses will be the ideal match for the vintage French Rococo chairs and her beautiful dining room.  I imagine she will host many elegant dinners in that lovely space!

Sports Decor – Olympic Inspiration at Home!

With the Rio 2016 Olympic Games catching everyone’s attention, I thought it would be fun to look at some arty and nostalgic sports decor that will fit gracefully into your home, even if you’re not the sporty type! But it you DO play tennis or golf or love watching the gymnasts do their thing, you’ll definitely like these!

Vintage Tennis art printAnyone for tennis? I love this Edwardian style couple ready to serve up in a game of mixed doubles. How on earth did women play tennis in skirts like that? Let alone the wasp waist corset and the perky little hat! This is one of the amazing vintage art prints we’ve started to stock from a collection of vintage art.

The vintage prints are restored and digitally reprinted and they are available framed and printed on fine art paper (Giclee) and canvas. We have so many different images with so many subjects, the easiest way to find one is to do a search by topic on our antiques and home decor website.

vintage Delft clock sailing boatsHistorically, when you look back over more than a century to 1896, the USA along with Great Britain have won many more medals for sailing than any other country competing in the Olympic Games,  This charming vintage Delft clock dating to around 1950 celebrates sailing with a hand-painted vista of a sailing regatta. The vintage clock is perfect for a boating enthusiast or to decorate a coastal home.

Cycle Vintage Art PrintThe USA has already won a gold medal for road cycling at the 2016 Olympics, but I don’t think the road cycling at the games is quite the same as the rather racy cycling in this vintage art print.  I’m pretty sure the competitors don’t get to ride along with their arm on the shoulder of a motorcyclist!

Still, this fantastic Art Deco Favor cycling print is so streamlined and chic, I had to show it to you.

Polo horse player bookends

Horseback polo is no longer part of the Olympics, but it was an Olympic sport from 1900 to 1936. I wonder why they dropped it when there are still so many other equestrian events? Anyway, here’s an interesting fact for you: The United States did actually compete in those games and won several medals for polo! The new polo player bookends in the photo are hand-cast and hand-painted as a custom order. The resin bookends are beautifully detailed. Gymnasts sculpture cast iron

Our American gymnasts have done brilliantly at the Olympics, and the sculpture of these two male gymnasts shows the grace, strength and poise typical of the best gymnasts.

The new sculpture is cast in iron and it stands on a marble base. It’s an elegant 34 inches high,  so it makes a great focal point for a space that can take a narrow but nearly 3 feet tall signature piece.

The style is reminiscent of classic sculptures and it has a wonderful sense of aspiration. It is weighty in its substance but somehow also light and heart-lifting.
I could look at this piece all day!

Golfer BookendsWe have a lot of home decor for golfers in our online store, probably because it’s such a popular sport.

Our pieces include golf statues and bookends and other golf decor including wall sconces, vases, and vintage art prints.

I saw that a British golfer just scored the first ever hole-in-one at the Olympic Games – how cool is that? He must be very pleased with himself.

This vintage style chap is certainly swinging for a hole-in-one! The hand-cast and hand-painted bookends are a wonderful gift for any golfer.

Vintage Art Print Golf Monte CarloAnd for the lady golfers, this young woman also looks like she’s aiming for a medal. She’s very determined.

The Monte Carlo golf vintage art print has such a wonderful feel to it, with her billowing white skirt, the bright blue sea and the puffy clouds in the sky.  It’s just very exhilarating and it takes us back to a more innocent era. Also, an era when she probably had a servant to launder her white clothes and keep them so immaculately white after a day on the golf course :-) But let’s not let our nostalgia get bogged down with reality. This vintage art is pure wonderful escapism!

But do you think this guy can escape….?

Vintage Wrestler Headlock Art printHeld in a headlock, I wonder if this guy can get away from his wrestling opponent? This is one of several vintage art prints of wrestlers that we stock – it’s marvelous, isn’t it?
As this post is published, we are going in to a weekend of wrestling competitions at the Rio Games. The USA has many wrestlers competing, so good luck to them and GO USA!
At the very least, I hope they give their opponents some attitude like this wrestler does.

What’s your favorite sport at the games?  Do you have an sport themed decor in your home? We’d love to hear about it… just tell us in the comment box.

Vintage Renaissance Table in Dining RoomMy favorite posts each month are always our client spotlights when we take a little tour of a customer’s home and see how they use the piece of furniture or decor that they bought from us. Last month was no exception as we visited Crystal B.’s Georgia kitchen to deliver a large 1950s vintage French dining table. Crystal has been hunting for the perfect table for her spacious open kitchen for 4 years and we were thrilled that this chunky Renaissance style table was the solution! See the full story and more photos of the vintage Renaissance table as well as Crystal’s lovely wrought iron pot rack packed with vintage appeal.

Kathy with her collection of Thanksgiving pilgrimsTalking of vintage appeal, we got a great response on our Facebook Page and other social media to our post about Kathy’s collection of Thanksgiving pilgrims. My mother-in-law has collected pilgrims and other Thanksgiving-themed objects for more than 30 years and her collection has grown to more than 700 pieces! We display this wonderful collection in our EuroLux Gallery window on Main Street, Newberry, SC, from October through Thanksgiving every year. People love seeing the pilgrims peeking out of our window! My Collection of Thanksgiving Pilgrims post tells you how the collection started and shows more photos.

Client Spotlight: Vintage Renaissance Dining Table

We just delivered a massive vintage Renaissance dining table to Crystal B. in Harlem, Georgia. Crystal found us on Ebay and let us know that she had been searching for the perfect table for her large, open kitchen for the past 4 years! It’s a charming kitchen so let’s take a look at the table and its new home..

1950 Vintage Renaissance Dining TableThis is the large Renaissance style vintage French dining table Crystal bought from our selection of new, vintage and antique dining tables. It was crafted circa 1950 with a beautiful golden parquet top and an ornate wrought iron stretcher that adds to the Renaissance feel.

Parquet top vintage dining tableThis end view might give you a better look at the square parquet design on the table top. You can also see how the darker wood base and legs are carved with traditional rope, leaf, and scroll motifs.

Vintage Renaissance Table in Dining Room

Here’s the vintage Renaissance table in Crystal’s kitchen. We’re glad we were able to help her find the perfect piece to complement her décor! Take a look at the beautiful window treatments, which Crystal made herself — freehand! — and notice how the black, green and mauve fabric ties it all together. And what a gorgeous view this handsome vintage Renaissance table with its massive carved legs will enjoy through the three large, nearly floor-to-ceiling windows! It is hard to tell in the photograph, but in person we could see that the leaves were beginning to show the full range of vibrant autumn colors – reds, yellows and oranges.

Vintage Renaissance Table and iron pot rack

The black wrought iron stretcher under the vintage table ties in with this stunning black wrought iron pot rack over Crystal’s island.  This traditional kitchen is packed with “welcome home” appeal, combining handsome looks with warm comfort. What a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and perhaps a hearty bowl of oatmeal for breakfast!

Thank you Crystal for giving us a glimpse into your home. We agree that you DID find the perfect table at last and we hope you enjoy it for many years!

Client Spotlight: Vintage French Sheepbone Chairs

We often have wonderful sets of antique and vintage French sheepbone chairs in stock but I don’t recall ever writing a client spotlight about sheepbone chairs. That’s about the change, thanks to Veritta H. in Clovis, CA!  Veritta sent some beautiful photos of her dining room after she purchased a set of six vintage sheepbone chairs from us.

French Vintage Sheepbone chairIf you don’t know the sheepbone chair style, this photo of one of the dining chairs in Veritta’s set shows you what to look for. The sheepbone refers to the shapely legs, also called ‘os de mouton’ in French, which simply translates as bone of the sheep because it looks like a lamb’s leg. The legs are joined by curvy stretchers. The upholstered French dining chairs date to around 1950 and they are crafted in solid oak.

The six sheepbone chairs look fantastic in Veritta’s dining room!  Veritta says that she built her home 11 years and bought the dining table 10 years ago but she has been waiting for just the right chairs. I’m glad she found them at last! Veritta tracked them down on our OneKingsLane.com shop, but you can also find our many new, vintage, and antique dining chairs on our own EuroLuxHome.com website.

Vintage French Sheepbone Chairs

Veritta says that the sideboard is an antique but the table is antique-inspired. She has done a fantastic job accessorizing her dining room and it looks like she collects wine corks from her favorite bottles! This photo shows the handsome nailhead trim on the vintage sheepbone chairs, which adds another touch of luxury and Old World elegance. The pale upholstery of the chairs highlights the rich wood tones of the table and the old oak chairs.

Here’s another view of the dining room with a very powerful piece of art on the far wall.
I love that chandelier too – it’s the perfect lighting for the space.

Thanks Veritta for inviting us into your lovely dining room and for giving us the chance to talk about the sheepbone chair style. It is a classic look that works well with all kinds of decor, from traditional French Country to more eclectic design schemes – and it never goes out of style!
