Antiques Buying Trip Day 2: Join us for Lunch!

Most of our customers volunteer to come on our antiques buying trips, so we thought we’d bring you along on our most recent trip to France and Belgium to stock up on antique furniture and vintage lighting.

We’ve stopped at the grocery store and are now enjoying lunch in the van – won’t you join us?

Antiques Buying Trip Day 1: Picking up the Van

Thanks for joining us on our Antiques Buying Trip in Europe!  If you watched the last video, you know that we’ve landed in Brussels, Belgium.  Next, Greg will tell you about picking up a great, big van that we’ll use to drive across Belgium and France in order to find beautiful French Antique Furniture.

Our itinerary and the places we choose to go always depend on what types of inventory we’re looking for on a particular buying trip.  For this trip, we’re looking for a great many vintage chandeliers, as we have nearly sold out of our stock of vintage lighting.  We’ll also be looking for sets of antique dining chairs, vintage secretary desks, antique sideboards and servers, and of course, any other awesome piece that we find along the way.  For this trip, we’ve planned to spend a good portion of our time in Belgium and will also cross the border into northern France.

So jump in the van, I’ll slide over so there’s room for you too, and let’s go buy some antique furniture!

Join Us On An Antiques Buying Trip!

Here at EuroLuxAntiques.com, Greg and I enjoy talking to a great many people across the world about buying antique furniture.  Most of our customers are very curious about how and where we find our pieces and what actually happens on a buying trip.

Most believe it must be very glamorous – from meals eaten at fine restaurants to sight-seeing at famous sites and museums across Europe and Asia.  The truth is that it is not glamorous at all – it is a great deal of hard work.  I’m not complaining – I love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else!

But since most folks just roll their eyes when I mention the long, 12 to 16 hour days, the markets that start before the break of dawn, and all of the loading and unloading of heavy, antique furniture – I thought I would invite you along on our most recent buying trip to experience some it with us.

So without further ado, here is the first video in our Antique Furniture Buying Trip series. Jump on the plane, buckle your seat belt, and join us on a European Buying Trip!

Client Spotlight: Charleston, SC

Back in January, Greg and I delivered a beautiful Antique French Gothic Buffet to the home of Jami and Bill F. on James Island near Charleston, South Carolina. The warm patina of the walnut and the intricate, Gothic style carvings make this Antique Buffet a truly special and unique piece. Jami’s very friendly Doberman pinscher posed in front and smiled for the camera.

We decided to stay overnight and spend the next day strolling around Charleston soaking up the ambiance. If you’ve never been to the Holy City as her residents affectionately call her, you must go – Charleston is a bucket-list type of place to visit.

After wandering the charming streets, admiring the architecture and the old trees, we eventually ended up sitting on a bench on the Battery overlooking the harbor. The ocean breeze gently rustled the palm fronds above us as the sun kissed our cheeks and we enjoyed an exceptionally beautiful 75 degree day at the end of January. What a great way to relax.
